Yagga's Piccante Strips
This is an authentic recipe from sunny Calabria, in the very South of Italy. A quick and easy dish with a spicy flavour only requiring a few simple fresh ingredients.
You will need these ingredients:
2 x 200g boxes of Yagga Vegetarian Strips
2 tomatoes
2 green peppers
1 red chili pepper
1 scallion/shallot
1 clove of garlic
Some extra virgin olive oil.
Method:
- Blanch the tomatoes in some water and then peel off the skins.
- Remove the seeds form the tomatoes and cut into cubes.
- Clean and peel the scallions, then finely slice them.
- Brown the scallions in a little olive oil in a frying pan over gentle heat for a few minutes.
- While the scallions are cooking crush your garlic clove* (just give it whack!) and chop up your peppers.
- Add the Yagga Vegetarian Strips, tomatoes, peppers and garlic and cook for 5 minutes.
* If you want to be very Italian (!) you should pull out any green shoot that may be forming insid the garlic clove.
